Aquamarine

March’s birthstone is Aquamarine, symbolizing loyalty, honesty, and beauty. The gemstone is thought to create harmony, ensuring long and happy marriages.

Treasured since the times of the ancient Roman’s and Greeks, Aquamarine has long been associated with the sea. Its name is derived from old Latin meaning “seawater”.

Known as the “sailor’s lucky stone” Aquamarine protects seafarers from seasickness and the dangers of the ocean.

In ancient times it was believed that the cosmos were reflected in precious stones with each stone being associated to a planet. It’s no surprise Aquamarine was paired with Neptune, a planet representing the mighty god of the sea.

Care
Aquamarines are fairly tough, making them perfect for everyday wear and durable enough for all jewellery styles. You should not submit your jewellery to hard blows or rough wear (construction, harsh chemicals, etc). 

Famous Aquamarines
The Dom Pedro is the world’s largest facetted aquamarine. It stands 10cm all and its over 10,000 carats. When looking at this stone from the front, the light reflects through the gem and it appears to glow from within.
